New York Sea Grant
Since 1971, New York Sea Grant has supported science-based solutions for a wide range of water-related challenges and opportunities across the state. One of 34 Sea Grant programs in the U.S., NYSG is a university-based statewide program that connects research, outreach, and education with the needs of New York’s coastal communities, environments, and economies. NYSG's vision is for coastal decision-making throughout New York State to be influenced by science-based information and educated stakeholders.

Research
NYSG-funded researchers support cutting-edge, university-based, research that takes an unbiased approach to answering questions in focus areas including resilient communities and economies, coastal ecosystems, fisheries/aquaculture, and workforce development.

With skills in technology transfer and outreach, NYSG extension specialists know who the concerned stakeholders are and can convey the results to them in ways most effective for application conducting business and making decisions.

Education
NYSG supports its fellows, works with K-12 classroom teachers, and partners with nature centers, museums, and aquaria to deliver science-based information to students and the general public in order to create the informed citizenry needed for wise coastal resource decision-making.
